Organic Food Garden

Organic Food Garden Program

The Fit and Food Connection is excited to announce their new Organic Food Garden program, Project Sunflower! This garden is a place where neighbors and those in the community can learn about the importance of healthy foods and where they come from. The Organic Food Garden program is an initiative to bring back health food access to the Northern St. Louis areas that are now considered food deserts, a low income area with no access to healthy grocery stores. Neighbors and Fit and Food Connection volunteers will help to build and sustain sustain the garden, so the fresh fruits and vegetables will be used to feed our community.

Food Distribution

All of the food grown in the Fit and Food Connection’s Organic Food Garden will begin  used to feed those in Northern St. Louis City and County. Once the garden is completed, and the produce begins to grow, we will host a weekly market, to give residents in these food deserts access to fresh produce. The surplus from the weekly market will be distributed through our Food Assistance Program.
