Why I Volunteer: The looks of joy I get to see on our clients' faces — be it while delivering food as a part of the Food Assistance program or at our fundraising events — reminds me every time how much of an impact this organization has on the lives of the less fortunate than myself.

Why I Volunteer: Since High School, I’ve been attending Jesuit schools and I have learned to always try to live as a man for others. After I finished my MBA, I found Fit and Food Connection, which perfectly incorporates a few passions of my life. I love giving back to the community, love cooking, and love staying active.

Why I Volunteer: I found the work that FAFC does in our community remarkable. I looked to be part of an organization that helps our community to better understand the impact of movement and exercise as well as promoting healthy food habits.
I was very excited when I found The Fit and Food Connection. It makes me feel reinvigorated, not only for the positive impact of these activities in our community but because it brings back memories of my mother preparing food that was full of life, colorful, healthy, and tasty for our family and the whole neighborhood 🙂 and also the time of intense sports training in my hometown.

About Madt: Washington University, 1979 BA, Urban Studies & Teacher Education, currently retired but retaining several clients for bookkeeping and payroll processing, have owned a few small businesses in the area including Café Balaban (with partners) from 1986 through 1996.
Why I Volunteer: Joy and Gabi have started something wonderful here, and I am delighted to contribute a small part toward nurturing their dream. My wife worked for the St. Louis Area Food Bank early in our marriage, I became aware of the challenges to providing nutritious food to the community. I love the idea of combining fitness with nutrition.

About LaWanda: I have worked for PepsiCo Foodservice Nutrition Department for the past 7 years. I have been married to my amazing husband for 22 years and am a proud mother of four kids. I have a Bachelor of Communication from Truman State University, a Master of Education from Central Methodist University and Doctor of Education from Central Methodist University.
Why I Volunteer: I think it is critically important to take time to give back to the community, and the Fit and Food Organization is a great way to accomplish that. So many people underestimate the importance of both physical and nutritional components and how as a pair than can impact overall wellness. I love that FAFC does a great job addressing the needs of the “whole self” and providing those services to the community.

Occupation: After 40+ years in Radio/TV management, I am currently Chief Revenue Officer of Luxe Incentives, an Incentive and Engagement solution provider for businesses of all sizes.
Why I volunteer: I have been involved with non-profit organizations for the past 15+ years. I am grateful and blessed for all I have and the health of my family, and feel compelled to try and give back, especially to others who don’t have many of the basics of life… from good health to a healthy lifestyle and opportunities. I want to leave the world in a better shape than I found it.
